Air strikes kill 10 Taliban militants in Faryab

MAZAR-E-SHARIF -- Air strikes killed at least 10 Taliban militants and wounded six others in Faryab Province, the 209th Shaheen Corps of the Afghan National Army said in a statement Monday (May 20).

The strikes hit the militants late Sunday (May 19) in three different parts of Dawlatabad District, said the statement.

No civilians were harmed, it added.

Separately, a Taliban mortar wounded at least 15 civilians, including children and elderly men, as they gathered for iftar in Almar District, said the same statement.

The injured were hospitalised, officials said, adding that eight were in critical condition.
