KABUL -- At least 13 Afghans, including four children and a religious scholar, were killed in various bombings across Afghanistan.
Scholar and prayer leader Maulvi Muhammad Shafique was killed July 6 in Momand Dara District, Nangarhar Province, when a bomb attached to his vehicle exploded, provincial governor's spokesman Ataullah Khogyani said, according to Pajhwok Afghan News.
Separately, a suicide bombing July 6 in Sancharak District, Sar-i-Pul Province, killed at least four Afghans, provincial governor Mohammad Zahir Wahdat said, according to TOLO News.
Haji Rahim, a former leader of Soviet-era mujahideen, was the apparent target. He survived, but his two sons and two other relatives were killed, Wahdat said.
Meanwhile, a roadside bomb killed four children in Deh Yak District, Ghazni Province July 5, District Administrative Chief Karimullah Amiri said, according to Pajhwok Afghan News.
