102 Afghan militants, 6 soldiers, 3 civilians killed

KABUL -- Recent fighting and other violence across Afghanistan killed at least 102 militants, six soldiers and three civilians.

Three would-be suicide bombers recently in Bagram District, Parwan Province, were killed by their own explosives, which they were putting on a motorcycle, district police chief Ahmad Khan Ahmadzai said July 19, according to the Afghanistan Times.

A number of women were wounded because the militants were busy inside a house, Ahmadzai said.

Afghan troops killed at least 68 insurgents in a 24-hour span nationwide, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) said, according to a July 19 Afghanistan Times report.

Six Afghan National Army (ANA) troops were killed, the MoD said.

At least 28 members of the "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL) were killed recently in Nangarhar Province, ANA officials confirmed July 20, according to TOLO News.

The Taliban-designated provincial council chief of Helmand was among 34 militants killed in recent clearance operations in several Helmand districts, the MoD said separately, Khaama Press reported July 19. Their deaths might have been included in the Afghanistan Times summary of 68 militant deaths.

A July 19 battle killed a Taliban commander and two other militants in Qarabagh District, Ghazni Province, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) said July 20, according to TOLO News.

Meanwhile, three civilians were killed in fighting after militants July 19 attacked ANA personnel who were shopping in a bazaar in Ala Sai District, Kapisa Province, Ghulam Naqshbandi, the provincial governor's spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
