Afghan forces kill 37 militants; blasts injure 17

KABUL -- Afghan forces recently killed at least 37 militants, while separate bombings in Kabul and Baghlan Province injured 17 Afghans.

Security forces recently killed 36 members of the "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL) in Achin District, Nangarhar Province, provincial governor's spokesman Ataullah Khogyani said July 29, according to TOLO News.

Troops supported by coalition air power are carrying out clearance operations in Achin and Kot districts of Nangarhar, he said.

The National Directorate of Security (NDS) recently killed one militant in Garemsir District, Helmand Province, the NDS said in a statement, TOLO News reported July 28.

In Kabul, the police recently detonated a bomb that they found, injuring one police officer, Khaama Press reported July 28.

A bomb planted in a rickshaw in Baghlan-e-Markazi District, Baghlan Province, exploded July 28, injuring at least 16 civilians, district chief Gawhar Khan Baburi told Pajhwok Afghan News.

The injured included six children and two members of a civilian anti-Taliban uprising unit, he said.
