Afghan forces kill 20 militants in 24-hour period

KABUL -- Security forces killed at least 20 militants nationwide in a 24-hour span, the Afghan Ministry of Defence said December 2, adding that forces also arrested two suspected militants, Pajhwok Afghan News reported.

Meanwhile, mourners recently laid to rest 207th Corps Commander Gen. Muhiuddin Ghori in his native Herat Province, Khaama Press reported December 1.

Afghan President Ashraf Ghani, the interior and defence ministers, the National Directorate of Security chief and other high-level officials attended the funeral.

Ghori died in a November 29 helicopter crash in Badghis Province, an incident attributed to technical problems.
