Staff Report

KABUL -- Turkey trained 250 more female Afghan police cadets, teaching them to handle and fire weapons, direct traffic, investigate crime scenes and fight terrorism, Pajhwok Afghan News reported Thursday (January 5).

The policewomen completed a four-month-long training programme in Sivas Province, Turkey, Thursday (January 5) under a Turkish-Afghan co-operation agreement signed in 2011.

Turkey has trained about 3,000 Afghan cadets, including more than 1,000 women, under the pact.

Afghan Deputy Interior Minister Taj Muhammad Jahid, speaking at the cadets' graduation ceremony, expressed appreciation for Turkey's contribution to Afghanistan's development.
