JAWZJAN -- Taliban militants reportedly abducted 52 farmers from Darzab District of Jawzjan Province, Afghanistan Times reported Wednesday (February 15).
The farmers had gone to the Chehl Tapa, Chaharband and Chaharsir areas to collect firewood, when the militants took them to the Dasht-i-Leili area, said provincial governor's spokesman Reza Rezai.
The kidnapped farmers are Uzbek, Rezai said, adding that local ulema and tribal elders started negotiations for their release.
