KABUL -- At least 34 militants and two soldiers were killed in fighting in Takhar and Faryab provinces, officials said Tuesday (February 28).
Afghan forces killed at least four Taliban members in Darqad District, Takhar Province, Monday (February 27), army Maj. Gen. Shir Aziz Kamawal, commander for the 808th Spin Ghar zone, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
The troops drove the Taliban out of the Mosazai, Babrak, Noorkhel and Zara Zhranda areas, he said.
In Qaisar District, Faryab Province, troops killed at least 30 militants, said army Gen. Jannat Gul Karokhel, according to Pajhwok Afghan News.
Two soldiers were killed, he added.
However the district police commander put the troop death toll at five.
