BADAKHSHAN -- Pistachio production in Badakhshan Province is expected to surpass 1,000 tonnes this year, predicted the Afghan Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock, Khaama Press reported Thursday (April 13).
Farmers in Badakhshan cultivate about 151 hectares of pistachios, according to the ministry.
Afghan pistachios are prized worldwide and high production of the nut will boost national income, added the ministry.
