Afghan special police ranks to double

Salaam Times

KABUL -- The Afghan government has decided to double the number of special police force units, TOLO News reported Monday (August 7).

The decision is part of a four-year strategy to build up Afghan forces, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) said Sunday (August 6).

The plan will increase the number of special police units from three to six after the government found the units' performance against insurgents satisfactory, said the MoI.
