Air strike kills 21 militants including key Taliban commander in Balkh

MAZAR-E-SHARIF -- An air strike killed at least 21 Taliban militants, including a key leader of the group, in Chamtal District, Balkh Province, the 209th Shaheen Corps of the Afghan National Army said in a statement Thursday (January 10).

Mawlawi Abdul Basir, also known as Bader, was involved in many terrorist attacks, said the statement, without providing details about the incident.

The Taliban did not immediately comment.
