ZABUL -- Police in Zabul Province Monday night (June 10) repelled a co-ordinated Taliban attack on the centre of Daychopan District, killing at least 45 militants, the Interior Ministry said in a statement Tuesday (June 11).
The Taliban's shadow district governor Mawlawi Abdul Bari and two other local commanders were among those killed, said the statement.
At least 20 Taliban fighters were wounded, it added.
The Taliban claimed on Twitter it took over the district centre and that only two of its fighters were killed.
