MAZAR-E-SHARIF -- Afghan special forces killed at least five Taliban militants in an operation in Faryab Province, the 209th Shaheen Corps of the Afghan National Army said in a statement Tuesday (July 9).
Troops conducted the operation Monday (July 8) night in the Khwaja Namosi area of Pashtun Kot District, the army said. An Uzbek citizen and a Taliban local commander, identified as Nabiullah, were among those killed.
The Taliban did not immediately comment.
