Afghan forces kill 176 militants in Nangarhar, Helmand

KABUL -- Nationwide violence recently killed at least 176 militants, 7 security personnel and 13 civilians in Afghanistan, while terrorists kidnapped 30 civilians in Nangarhar Province.

Troops have killed at least 131 members of the "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL) in a battle that began June 24 in Kot District, Nangarhar Province, officials said June 26 according to TOLO News.

Seven troops and five civilians were killed in the fighting, provincial governor Salim Kunduzi told TOLO News.

ISIL militants recently kidnapped at least 30 civilians, including women, in Kot District, Kunduzi's spokesman, Ataullah Khogyani, confirmed, according to Khaama Press. The ISIL members killed eight civilians, local officials added.

A recent air strike in Chahar Dara District, Kunduz Province, killed at least 15 militants, including a Taliban commander, Khaama Press reported, quoting a June 27 statement from the Defence Ministry.

At least 30 Taliban were killed in recent police operations in Helmand Province, provincial police chief Brig. Gen. Aqa Noor Kentoz said June 26, according to Pajhwok Afghan News.
