HERAT -- Taliban's deputy shadow governor for Herat Province, Manan Lewanay, died of wounds he sustained during an operation by Afghan forces in Herat, the Interior Ministry reported in a statement Sunday (October 14).
Afghan police injured Lewanay during an operation a few days ago in the Rezak area, Obe District, but he died Sunday, said the statement.
He was involved in terrorist attacks in Pashtun Zarghun and Obe districts.
The Taliban did not immediately comment.
