Clear evidence refutes Taliban lies that a recently published video showing the execution of 22 Afghan special forces commandos by the Taliban in Faryab Province is "fake".

The 45-second video, which was broadcasted by CNN on Monday (July 12), shows Afghan commandos giving up their weapons and surrendering on June 16 in Dawlatabad district, Faryab province, after the Taliban captured the district following heavy fighting.

Shouting "Allahu akbar", the Taliban militants shoot all 22 Afghan commandos to death immediately after they give up their weapons, the video shows.

CNN has quoted the Taliban as claiming that they captured the Afghan commandos, who are alive and in Taliban custody.

While CNN says it has confirmed the report and spoken to several witnesses, a Taliban spokesman claimed the video is fake.

"The report is from a fake scene combined with footage from another where 22 commandos were killed during clashes while carrying out an operation in Faryab province," Suhail Shaheen, a Taliban negotiator and spokesperson, said in a Twitter post Wednesday.

Rejection of Taliban claim

The Defence Ministry, however, has rejected the Taliban's claim and said the Taliban killed the commandos. In a statement, ministry spokesperson Fawad Aman said the executions constitute a "war crime".

Moreover, the Red Cross confirmed retrieving the bodies of the 22 commandos.

The killings amounts to a war crime, agreed human rights watchdog Amnesty International UK. "This deeply disturbing footage is horrific and gives insight into the increasingly desperate situation enveloping in Afghanistan. What we are witnessing is the cold-blooded murder of surrendering soldiers -- a war crime."

The executions, amid the Taliban's claims of pursuing a peace process, and plans to continue talks with the Afghan government, cast a shadow over upcoming peace negotiations.

TALIBAN are weak bullies of humanity. Well really they are nothing more than sad sick cockroaches that are hard to get rid of.

The whole Afghan war is a war crime. It is an alien's fighting, which benefits others, while the victims are Afghans.

May Almighty Allah make the government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan victorious.

Taliban are mercenaries; having confidence on Taliban is a mistake.

| 07-16-2021 It is proved to the whole world that the Taliban is a terrorist and puppet group, and no war laws or any other laws are important for them. What is important for them is the fear they have from their masters and the killing of humans.

Taliban mean mercenary, savage and hellish.

I am concerned about the fierce attack on the Afghan commandos and the group's future.

Taliban’s work is crime and completely savage.

It is proved well to the whole world that the Taliban is a terrorist and puppet group. They don't care about the fighting rules and whatsoever, but they are following the purposes of their master, and they kill the people.

To be honest, this news that I heard the other day, and then I read it on Salaam Times, made me very sad, wholeheartedly sad. Fighting is something filthy. You can see as it thoroughly cuts the youth like flowers, and the flower-like youth are killed on both sides. Either if the Taliban are killed or if the soldiers are killed, both of them are Afghans. And in the meantime, a lot of expenses are made to train these commando forces; they are provided with the training. Afghan commando force is unique in the region. They should be pampered like flowers, they make the backbone of Afghanistan, we live beside two horrible enemy countries (Iran and Pakistan), we should not kill even our dogs, we should not kill even our own wild pigs, and we have to use their force and power properly. May Allah help us.

Taliban are unable to confront the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces; therefore, they destroy the bridges. Taliban come secretly, and attack the bases of Afghan National Army and Afghan National Police, and cowardly martyr our brave soldiers and then they flee. They are cowards. Taliban cannot confront the valiant forces of our country on the battlefield. Whenever Taliban fighters come under pressure by the Afghan forces, they escape and blow up bridges in order to save their lives. If Taliban do not destroy the bridges, our security forces will pursue them and arrest them all and bring them to justice. If God is willing, our champions will take the revenge of the martyrs of Dawlatabad of Faryab.

Due to the wrong policies of the government, war and explosions claim the lives of poor people every day. If the government had a clear policy against Taliban and other terrorist groups, the situation would not have been so dire now. The government must ensure security of its citizens, but if it can't, they may let Taliban come to power and ensure the security of the people. It doesn't matter to the people who should be in power, Ashraf Ghani or Mullah Baradar. Security is important for the people. For the sake of God, Ashraf Ghani! please ensure the security of the people. All the people were destroyed.
